mikro makro – grosse stadt | 1993–1995

micro  macro,   Berlin 1993–95

I think of a major city as an exciting place laden with inherited imprints of authority which are engraved into the fantasy world by human mentality and social relationships.
Berlin, is in my mind a major city, one with a complicated and sorrowful past, and a city which for 5 years has been going through a fundamental and chaotic turning point. In my personal life I see this and other factors reflected through my children’s behaviour. They transform the things they see and do into their own imagination, and then it becomes part of a child’s game. These games are not by no means untroubled. The Micro structure is converted into the character of the Macro structure, the same as through a burning glass. Through this playful metamorphose, a child’s world hides its misunderstandings from meaningful world, as well as the fundamentals of monstrous and the aggressive.

My images stem from interior and exterior, near and far, illusions and strange realities, and internal and external codes. I set myself the task of finding photographical shapes for these duplications.
